Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from Piastri by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, if briefly, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.
The Japanese lost control over the exit kerbs before spinning across the gravel trap, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the very end of the practice, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho turn leading to the final bend on to the pit straight.
Hamilton ended the session in P19, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber third fastest, over half a second slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
